second-largest chicken restaurant pioneered the concept of quick-service
shopping mall eateries in 1967, along with the first chicken sandwich.
With annual sales of $3.5 billion, the company opened its first Orange
County store in the Irvine Marketplace more than seven years ago. Today,
there are 10 stores in O.C. and more than 1,500 nationally. A
contrarian in the round-the-clock fast-food industry, Chick-fil-A’s are
not open on Sundays, reflecting the chain’s conservative roots.
