As CEO of Emulex, Jim McCluney has played an immense role in shaping his company and the O.C. business community. Since joining the technology company in 2003, McCluney has been instrumental in completing three acquisitions that have positioned Emulex for entry into new high-growth market segments, including virtualization, storage protocol bridging and network convergence. Last year McCluney successfully defended the company against a $912 million buyout offer from Broadcom, maintaining Emulex’s strength and independence. McCluney works with the educational nonprofits Project Tomorrow and Mind Research Institute, is on the Dean’s Advisory Board at the UC Irvine School of Engineering and is the chairman of the UC Irvine CEO Roundtable.
