Dan Young

• PRESIDENT, IRVINE CO. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIVISION

Age: 59

Status: Married, with three children

Interesting factoid: He is a winemaker.

On loving his job: “Working at the Irvine Company means being able to work with the best and the brightest. Our communities and our buildings are world-class. You can be proud to be associated with what we plan and build.”

His sport: Golf

As president of Irvine Co. Community Development, Dan Young oversees the planning and creation of master-planned communities on the 93,000-acre Irvine Ranch, which extends from Newport Coast to the Cleveland National Forest – and more than half of which has been preserved as open space and parklands. Featuring homes, parks, trails, shopping centers, schools and other amenities and services, the company’s communities are renowned for the quality of life they offer residents.

So far this year, Young’s division has placed more than 700 new homes under contract in Woodbury and Woodbury East – two communities in the Villages of Irvine. Young, the former mayor of Santa Ana who joined the Irvine Co. in 1999, says his goal is to make each new community “a little bit better” than its predecessor. He recently celebrated the grand opening of the Village of Stonegate and is overseeing the completion of the Village of Portola Springs.
