What characteristics are necessary for a successful trial lawyer? You have to be a likeable and credible storyteller. Juries are more apt to find for your client if they like and trust you. … And never let ’em see you sweat.
Steve Nichols is on a roll. A senior partner at Rutan & Tucker, California’s largest full-service law firm headquartered in Costa Mesa, Nichols was named to the Daily Journal’s list of Top 100 Lawyers – just one more feather in Nichols’ highly plumed cap; he was also named a Southern California Super Lawyer in 2006.
Nobody can touch him in the area of Caltrans disputes. In two recent cases, Nichols recovered one of the largest settlements awarded against Caltrans ($11.9 million) and the largest reported arbitration award against Caltrans ($12.1 million), and that was just this year.
While construction law is his specialty, don’t try to put Nichols in a box. He recently won a multimillion-dollar jury verdict for famed NASCAR driver Robby Gordon.
