Hot 25: First Honorees

Doug Rankin
When he received the Hot 25 award nearly 20 years ago, Doug Rankin had become president of the Irvine Barclay Theatre six month earlier. Now, Rankin proudly leads it into its own 20th anniversary season.
Within the past two decades, Rankin has witnessed the theater grow in numerous ways.
“Each year has been different,” he says. Over the years, the audience of the Barclay Theatre has diversified in accordance to the population of Irvine, while maintaining a loyal and growing audience.
The theater’s goal for the coming years is to see a younger crowd drawn to the stage, which will hopefully be achieved with this season’s series of events called “20/20/20.”
Aside from his ongoing involvement with the theater, Rankin has found time to travel on occasions. As for the future, he has “no immediate plans but to keep promoting the theater.”
