![]() Now: Director of government relations, Pacific Life When Thomas Mays was named to OC METRO’s inaugural Hot 25 list, he was a rising star in the O.C. Republican Party. He’d already served as mayor of Huntington Beach and saw the city through Medfly spraying, massive sewage issues and the American Trader oil spill, and he’d worked for a short time with former Gov. Pete Wilson. In 1993, Mays took a post as director of government relations for Pacific Life, working his way up to vice president. Now, he manages all state industry-related issues for the firm.Mays says he’s been approached to run for re-election but has chosen not to, citing his commitment to his family and work. “When I retire, I’ll make that decision,” he says. – Kaysie Ellingson OC METRO's 2009 Hot 25 honorees: Toby Bost | Mike Gillespie | Anil Puri | Sean Collins Kevin Boylan & T.K.
