POSITION: Executive vice president of finance for Buy.com

ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Helped lead Buy.com from steep financial losses to profitability; nominated for the Orange County Business Journal’s CFO of the Year award

WHAT YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOUR WORK: The fast-paced environment of the Internet world. We are constantly looking for new areas to grow and embark into, which keeps work challenging yet exciting. We are a relatively small company, with only 130 employees. We are very team-oriented, which makes it a great environment to be a part of every day.

PROFESSIONAL PHILOSOPHY: A commitment to excellence has always been part of my character, and I have always tried to lead by example. I respect the team (the employees reporting directly or indirectly to me), and I try to be a part of it – not above it.

PROUDEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT, AND WHY IT STANDS OUT: While other companies fell during the Internet bust, we tightened up the reins and survived the storm. In April, I will have been at Buy.com for 10 years. We went from losing money for years to turning a profit for the first time in the fourth quarter of 2006. We had our first full year of profitability in 2007 and have been profitable ever since.

ADVICE FOR WOMEN ENTERING THE WORK FORCE: Be determined to be the best you can be at all times. Maintain your professionalism. Have complete confidence in your abilities. Determine your strengths early on, and utilize them whenever possible. A firm handshake always helps.
