POSITION: Attending neonatologist and associate director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at UC Irvine Medical Center
ACCOMPLISHMENTS: I help save the lives of hundreds of infants each year, and I serve on the California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative committee
WHAT YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOUR WORK: I love that I can do both clinical and academic medicine at the same time. I enjoy interacting with pediatric residents and neonatal fellows. I enjoy teaching and at the same time learning from them.
YOUR PROFESSIONAL PHILOSOPHY: To treat and care for every patient like I would treat my own.
PROUDEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT, AND WHY IT STANDS OUT: I still believe that my proudest professional achievement happened back in 1998, when I joined the team of neonatologists at UC Irvine Medical Center. I continue to take pride in what I do every day I come to work, to be able to heal patients and be part of a system that trains and educates the healers of the future.
ADVICE FOR WOMEN ENTERING THE WORK FORCE: Be confident, work hard and love what you do.
FAVORITE MIDNIGHT SNACK: None – I don’t do midnight snacks.
