One local business is doing its part to support the region's underserved: Newport Beach-based Daddy Cakes is hosting a pancake breakfast at the Orange County Rescue Mission’s Village of Hope this Saturday.

The breakfast will raise money and collect canned goods for the O.C. Rescue Mission. Additionally, Daddy Cakes will be serving breakfast to the 200 residents of the Village of Hope.

Daddy Cakes, which produces nine different flavors of heart-smart pancake mixes, will also be donating 150, 1-pound pouches of pancake and waffle mix. It's the equivalent of more than 3,100 pancakes. The items will be delivered to the homeless other local families affected by the economic downturn.

After learning that the O.C. Rescue Mission had distributed more than 84,100 meals in the past six months alone to local families in need of assistance, Daddy Cakes founder Dan Byers says he knew he had to step in and help.
