The vertical thinking that ushered in the information age is being replaced by the human need for the kind of job/life satisfaction that’s only available through creative thought – or so says author Daniel Pink, who will be speaking Monday at 9 a.m. at the Orange County Performing Arts Center’s Segerstrom Concert Hall.

Pink, the author of “A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers Will Rule the Future” and “Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us,” will talk about innovation, education and the changing world of work.

“Increasingly, the business, education and arts communities are converging in their understanding of the essential role of creativity in the success of all worthwhile endeavors – economic, social and spiritual,” says Richard Stein, executive director of Arts Orange County, which is organizing the event as the kickoff to the 25th anniversary of its Imagination Celebration. “Dan Pink has been at the forefront of that thinking and has inspired provocative discussions among the leaders of these communities that have resulted in new and innovative approaches to our work.”

Pink is a contributing editor at Wired magazine, and his articles have been published in the New York Times and the Harvard Business Review.

Tickets are $35 and available through the Orange County Performing Arts Center.
