Deloitte chooses Laura’s House for annual volunteer day
More than 20 Orange County employees met last month to help rebuild the transitional housing facility in Ladera Ranch.

Orange County employees of Deloitte, a financial services company, lent their hands to Laura’s House, the Ladera Ranch domestic abuse transitional housing facility for the company’s 2012 national IMPACT Day.
The transitional housing facility, which was purchased in 2011 from a $4.5-million fund raised by Laura’s House to rebuild and expand the shelter, provides shelter, counseling, life skill education and legal assistance to women and children who have been victims of domestic abuse.
“By giving our professionals across the globe the opportunity to spend the day engaging within their communities in a wide range of traditional and skill-based projects designed to use our best thinking, we are helping to strengthen local nonprofit organizations like Laura’s House, and build thriving communities,” said Michelle Kerns, operations and community services manager of Deloitte Services.
Volunteers from Deloitte provided donations of items such as televisions and area rugs, and spent the day installing shelving, organizing and planting a vegetable garden.
“By continuing to engage their employees in community service to Laura’s House, Deloitte is helping us to build greater awareness for our efforts to end the cycle of domestic violence here in our community,” said Margaret Bayston, CEO and executive director of Laura’s House.
