Anaheim White House – light

The landmark restaurant offers a new slimmed-down menu.

By Elysia McMahanPublished: February 01, 2012

The Anaheim White House restaurant, a national historical landmark, is more than just a hidden gem. This month, the family-owned Italian and seafood bistro added a new healthy menu to its cuisine. Chef and restaurateur Bruno Serato teamed up with the Lindora Clinic (a leading medical weight-control program) to create a four-course meal that totals only 560 calories.
Considering that weight loss is one of the top resolutions for most folks in 2012, dining out has almost become forbidden. But this low-calorie dinner, offered for less than $80 for two, doesn’t require you to resist eating the good stuff. After losing 25 pounds on Lindora’s Medical Clinic program, Serato was inspired to create a permanent addition to the White House’s Italian menu.
To begin, consider the 4-ounce sautéed Costa Rican tilapia, served with fresh lemon juice or, if you prefer something lighter, try the carpaccio of beef, served with extra-virgin olive oil. The second course is a 4-ounce mixed-greens salad dressed in balsamic vinegar. For your entrée, choose between a 4.5-ounce oven-roasted petite fillet mignon with a Dijon-mustard sauce, a 4-ounce pan-roasted pork tenderloin with a Dijon- mustard sauce, or a 4-ounce baked whitefish topped in a lightly spicy sauce of Japanese peppers. All entrées are served with fresh herbs and steamed julienne seasonal veggies. Waiting for you at the end of this fixed price meal is a scrumptious chocolate fudge cake topped with thinly sliced strawberries or a half cup of fresh seasonal berries.
