![]() “We are overwhelmed with the support this event has drawn over the past five years,” said Caroline Marchant, who co-chaired the event along with Paige Getzlaf. “Our sincere thanks to all donors and sponsors who have contributed to our projects that seek to enrich the time spent by both patients and families at CHOC Children’s.” The funds raised through the event will go toward building a new fitness center at the new CHOC Children’s hospital located in Orange. The state-of-the-art medical center is set to open in Spring 2013, and is slated to be the safest, most advanced children’s hospital in the nation. The new medical center will feature emergency room services, operating rooms, labs, pathology, and imaging and radiology services, all dedicated to delivering the best in pediatric care. The event featured a gourmet menu, silent and live auctions and professional modeling of summer fashions. Clothes and accessories for the event were provided by Saks Fifth Avenue, South Coast Plaza and Quiksilver. A number of players for the Anaheim team traded the ice rink for the catwalk, including right wings Teemu Selanne and George Parros, and team captain Ryan Getzlaf. Dressed to the nines, eight players were each paired with a CHOC Ambassador –– a current or former patient of the hospital, or a family member –– for their trip down the runway, punctuated by twirls, poses and fist-bumps. Sponsors for the event included the Newport Beach Marriot, OCRegister.com and Saks Fifth Avenue, among others. With this year’s event, the total amount raised from the fashion show over the last five years comes to $480,000.
