Irvine’s Duncan McIntosh Co. revives Editor & Publisher
The niche publishing company pulls the 126-year-old news organization from the fire.

Irvine-based Duncan McIntosh Co. Inc, a newspaper and niche publication publisher, specializing in the boating industry, has purchased the 126-year-old institution, Editor & Publisher (E&P). E&P, an independent news organization reporting on all aspects of the transforming newspaper business, has resumed publication in print and online. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Duncan McIntosh Co. Inc. publishes several highly respected boating magazines and newspapers, including Boating World magazine, Sea Magazine, America's Western Boating Magazine, The Log Newspaper and FishRap. The company also sponsors and produces the Newport Boat Show in the spring and the Lido Yacht Expo in the fall.
Mark Fitzgerald was named E&P's new editor. A 26-year veteran of the company, He had most recently served as E&P's editor-at-large.
The announcement came exactly two weeks after the “Bible of the newspaper industry” was shuttered. Publisher Duncan McIntosh said he knew immediately when Nielsen announced in December the closing of E&P that he wanted to keep the magazine and its digital newsgathering properties going.
