A new look and new content

You'll like the editorial and design changes we've made in OC METRO.

By Tina BorgattaPublished: September 01, 2008

Notice anything different? A bolder cover. A sleeker look inside. Like it? We do.

In my last column, I announced that we’d be making some changes over here at OC METRO: a new look, a renewed focus on business, people and life, and a new daily news/monthly perspective mantra for our Web site and printed product.

Through our site, ocmetro.com, the OC METRO brand provides you with a constant stream of business news. Our staff uploads stories throughout the morning and afternoon, and our daily “OC METRO Minute” webcast highlights the top news.

Now, we’ve retooled the magazine with a monthly format that offers you a closer look at the decisions and debates that affect the county, and the people who make things happen; a roundup of cool tools to help you get through the workday; and some great ideas on ways to spend your after-hours.

Veteran journalist-turned-entrepreneur William Lobdell joins our lineup of regular contributors. In his column, Perspective, Lobdell shares his take on the issues that have an impact on Orange County. This month, Lobdell tells the story of rancher Ignacio Lujano and the city of San Juan Capistrano’s decision to do away with most of what little is left of the county’s remaining citrus groves. You’ll find it on page 20.

We’ve also moved Publisher Steve Churm’s page farther up in the book. His reflections are just too good to remain at the back. (But we found a great replacement for that spot: Pursuits. It’s a snapshot that shows how Orange County’s notables spend their downtime.) This month, Churm’s column – The Bottom Line – can be found on page 34. Just back from China, he shares his keen observations about the changing culture of a modern Beijing.

We’ve expanded Travel, and added Wellness, Spa and Style pages to the mix. And next month, we’ll welcome Orange County’s top pair of fashionistas to the team. Michelle Pulfrey, who produces Fox Channel 11’s “Style File” segments for “Good Day L.A.,” and Amy Denoon, founder of Beach House Public Relations, will take over as our new Style page’s contributing editors.

We’re thrilled to welcome our new additions to the OC Metro team.

Change is good, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the evolution of the OC METRO brand – online and in print. We hope you like it, too. ocm
