Mark Robinson, Jr.
For three decades, the lawyers of Robinson, Calcagnie & Robinson, Inc. have been at the forefront of major products liability, business litigation and personal injury cases. The firm has achieved over 100 verdicts, judgments and settlements of $2 million or more on behalf of its clients, including a $4.9 billion jury verdict against a vehicle manufacturer. The firm’s practice areas include products liability, asbestos, auto accidents, aviation accidents, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, pedestrian accidents, unfair business practices and workplace injuries. The firm has been involved in numerous mass torts involving pharmaceutical injuries, class actions, tobacco-related litigation and product liability cases commanding national attention. Recently, senior partner Mark P. Robinson, Jr. was appointed Co-Lead Counsel for the Plaintiffs’ Liaison Committee for personal injury/wrongful death cases in the Toyota Unintended Acceleration Litigation.
Robinson Calcagnie & Robinson’s 23 lawyers capably evaluate and handle complex issues with the support of dozens of legal professionals, including paralegals, registered nurses and investigators. The firm has cultivated relationships with a number of consultants and expert witnesses experienced in biomechanics, mechanical engineering, accident reconstruction, design safety, metallurgy and materials analysis. Comprehensive computer technology, including case management systems and document scanning and coding capabilities, allow the firm’s lawyers to process and store volumes of documents and data involved in the most complex cases. The firm also maintains its own warehouse for storing and preserving evidence, including motor vehicles relating to accident cases.
In preparing for trial, the firm’s litigators utilize mock juries and focus groups and create mock-ups, computer simulations and reconstruction animations to bring the details of a case home to the jurors. The firm’s lawyers frequently publish articles in legal journals and other publications on issues relating to products liability, toxic torts and personal injury law, and are active in educating the legal community and the public regarding changes in these and other areas of the law.
The firm’s lawyers are also active in local and national professional organizations and are consistently recognized for their legal services. Senior partner Mark P. Robinson, Jr. served as co-counsel for plaintiffs in the landmark Ford Pinto gas tank case, Grimshaw v. Ford, and currently is one of the lead attorneys in several national product liability actions involving pharmaceutical and medical device products. Mr. Robinson is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the International Society of Barristers. He has also taken a leadership role outside the courtroom serving as a past president of Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC) and past president of the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association. He currently serves as an Executive Committee member of The American Trial Lawyers Association and as Treasurer of the American Board of Trial Advocates. In 2008, he was named California ABOTA Trial Lawyer of the Year for the State of California.
Partner Kevin F. Calcagnie served for several years on the Board of Governors for the Consumer Attorneys of California and was recently named by California Lawyer Magazine as one of its Attorneys of the Year for 2010, along with Mr. Robinson. Partner Jeoffrey L. Robinson formerly served as an Orange County Deputy District Attorney handling several high-profile, nationally recognized criminal cases, and since entering private practice has continued his success, securing several notable multi-million-dollar recoveries for clients.
