![]() When an Oscar-winning actress was recently accused of assaulting a photographer, it was Orange County’s Mike Brewer who received the call – not one of the many publicity-seeking lawyers in Los Angeles or Beverly Hills. When A-list celebrities, athletes or top business executives find themselves the target of a criminal investigation or charge, and they want the matter handled discreetly, Brewer has become the go-to attorney for many of them. “We don’t seek the limelight, which can do further damage to the client,” says Brewer from his Newport Beach office. “It’s not about us. It’s about getting the result for the client, not increasing the publicity for our own sake.” One of the few times that he has been featured prominently in such a case, or mentioned a client by name, is in his defense of Redmond O’Neal (son of Ryan O’Neal and Farrah Fawcett). That case had already received an enormous amount of media attention before Brewer became involved. The media legal pundits all agreed that O’Neal was going to prison, but Brewer joined the legal team and achieved the impossible. Today, O’Neal is sober and set to graduate from a drug court treatment program. Says Brewer: “While it wasn’t our typical case because it involved drug charges, and Redmond had a criminal record, I did not feel that he deserved to go to prison. I looked at his history and saw that his crimes never involved hurting other people, only himself. I thought that he deserved one last chance to get clean and turn his life around.” Brewer served as a prosecutor for many years and graduated cum laude from Tulane Law School. He has been a legal instructor for most major California law enforcement agencies, including the Los Angeles Police Department and the sheriff’s departments of Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties. He has also worked, consulted and trained with the FBI, Secret Service, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney’s Office and U.S. Army JAG Corps. He has also served as a consultant to the “Law and Order” television series, Court TV, Fox News and Fox Sports, and Major League Baseball. Kim Edward Smith, a Los Angeles County prosecutor who has both worked with and opposed him at trial, called Brewer “one of the five best criminal defense lawyers in America.” Attorney Richard Pintal, who also opposed prosecutor Mike Brewer in trial, has since brought him on as part of a defense team in several cases, and did so on the O’Neal case. Pintal states that Brewer’s “experience brings unique analytical skills to successfully negotiate a resolution or trial of any case,” as he did for O’Neal. Brewer personally represents every client, only using other attorneys and staff for support. This ensures that every client gets his experienced and personal representation every time. He routinely represents celebrities, public officials, police officers and fellow attorneys, discreetly obtaining a resolution of their problems. Most of his clients, however, are normally law-abiding professionals, business executives, working people and their children, and he does not represent career criminals, gang members or child molesters. “If you are normally a law-abiding person who is being investigated or charged with a DUI or other crime, we know it can be a frightening and confusing experience. You need an experienced attorney on whom you can rely,” Brewer says. “You need a lawyer who will fight to clear your name or discreetly resolve your legal problem in a dignified manner that does not cause you greater embarrassment. We will stand with you.” The Brewer Law Firm 888.533.5798 | 5030 Campus Drive | Newport Beach mbrewer@thebrewerlawfirm.com | thebrewerlawfirm.com THE FEATURED LAWYERS:
