![]() Growing up in Orange County, Jeffrey A. Milman said he learned about professional integrity the hard way. His family, who helped found the IHOP restaurant chain never missed an opportunity to put him to work. As a teenager, he worked in his dad’s Fullerton and then Newport Beach eateries in such capacities as master bottle washer, captain and wine steward. In 2010, his resume is quite a bit more impressive. As a principal partner with the medical malpractice and personal injury law firm Hodes Milman, LLP, Milman is the firm’s resident expert in medical malpractice litigation against the Veteran Administration under the Federal Tort Claims Act, and lead counsel in a number of such cases pending against the VA. “I always have a half-dozen to a dozen VA as well as other medical malpractice cases around the country,” Milman said. Additionally, Milman is an instructor, lecturer and journalist contributing to subjects involving trial practice, advocacy, attorney fees, liens and medical negligence. Further, the multi-faceted litigator was voted one of the Top 50 lawyers in Orange County in 2009 and 2010, and since 2005, he has been named a Super Lawyer in the top 5 percent of the region’s attorneys. Since 2006, Milman has been a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates dedicated to the protection of “Justice by the People.” Sometimes, Milman said, cases can be heart wrenching, especially when current law stipulates a $250,000 cap for pain and suffering in malpractice verdicts. Still, his diligence has won clients numerous verdicts in the six- and seven-figure range. “I just finished representing a date farm owner who was rendered a quadriplegic when a tire blew up and caused his vehicle to overturn on him,” Milman said. “We were able to resolve that case, and I’m glad to say the recovery amount will take care of medical and other needs for him and his family.” THE FEATURED LAWYERS:
