Despite the struggling housing market, Costa Mesa-based First Team Real Estate experienced a year of expansion, opening eight branches outside of Orange County in 2010.

"The company has always had a counter-cyclical tradition of growing its market share in down markets,” said First Team CEO Cameron Merage. “In the 35 years of its existence, it has grown dramatically due to being an aggressive leader in constant innovation, refinement and improvement in the ways it meets changing market, agent and consumer needs. That has put us in a very solid position to grow at a time when consumer needs are much wider and more complicated than when the market was at its peak."
In addition to opening the new branches, First Team merged four small offices and relocated the teams into larger state-of-the-art facilities.
Now, the real estate giant maintains a presence in a number of high-visibility areas, including Beverly Hills, Marina del Rey, Pasadena, Westlake and San Diego.
Nationwide, First Team ranks ninth in overall sales volume. As a non-franchised brokerage, First Team ranks as the largest in Southern California.
