Fisker Karma picks up 2 more awards
The luxury hybrid adds more industry design honors to its crowded trophy case

The unique and stylish Fisker Karma, produced by Fisker Automotive, continues to wow the auto industry with its sleek design and advanced technology. The Anaheim-based automaker has added two more accolades to its growing list of design and industry recognitions.
The Karma was awarded first prize in the International Design Awards in the area of product design, as well as product design of the year. The International Design Awards (IDA) recognizes visionary new design concepts in several industries, including architecture, fashion, graphic design, interior design and product design. Prizes are awarded in both professional and student categories, recognizing entries submitted from more than 65 countries.
“As a car designer, there’s nothing like having your work recognized and appreciated by other people in different disciplines of the same industry,” said Henrik Fisker, company co-founder and executive design director. “We are honored to have the IDA recognize and endorse the sleek and bold design of the Fisker Karma.”
The Karma also garnered a silver trophy at the Edison Awards, recognizing the automaker’s innovation in hybrid design and one of the most prestigious honors in business development. Fisker Automotive representatives joined other honorees at the awards ceremony in New York.
“I had the privilege to directly experience the elegance, luxury and power of the Edison Award-winning 2012 Fisker Karma in New York City,” said Thomas Stat, the 2012 Edison Awards Steering Committee chairman. “I've never seen so many heads turned from pedestrians and other drivers as the Fisker Karma drove past them.”
Companies nominated to the Edison Awards are judged by a panel comprised of more than 3,000 business professionals and leading executives in their respective fields of product development, engineering, science, medicine, academics, past award winners and members of the Marketing Executives Networking Group, among others.
“As the pace of innovation quickens and the 'race to next' becomes ever more competitive, it’s increasingly important to take a moment out of our hectic lives to recognize excellence in innovation and greatness in the teams of innovators who make our future,” Stat said. “We are honored to present Fisker Automotive with an Edison Award as one of the leading innovators of today and tomorrow.”
Other recent awards in the Karma’s trophy case include Automobile Magazine’s ‘Design of the Year’ and BBC Top Gun’s ‘Luxury Car of the Year’ award.
