![]() The Anaheim-based automaker and creator of the luxury hybrid Fisker Karma has partnered with two automotive groups that will provide retail outlets for the Karma in three markets. Fisker’s partner in Toronto and Calgary is the Dilawri Group, Canada’s largest automotive dealer group. Not only will the company oversee the new Fisker of Calgary, it will place a unique new retail location, Fisker of Toronto, at the Shops at Don Mills, the only open-air mall in Toronto. In Vancouver, Fisker will partner with the family-owned Fields Automotive Group, adding to the company’s 29 North American dealerships. “Both Dilawri and Fields have the premium brand experience we want, and that the customers expect, in launching a new luxury brand specializing in uncompromised responsible luxury,” said Matt Malfitano, Fisker’s director of North American Market Operations. The opening of these new dealerships coincides with the Canadian government’s promotion of hybrid and plug-in vehicle adoption, with the goal of 500,000 plug-in vehicles on the road by 2018. To aid in achieving this goal, the provinces of Ontario, British Columbia and Quebec are all offering buyers of plug-in hybrids and other green technology vehicles purchase incentives amounting to $5,000 to $8,500 (Canadian). Individually, the provinces offer additional perks to hybrid owners as well; Ontario allows hybrid drivers unrestricted access to HOV lanes, and Quebec reimburses half the cost of charging stations for plug-in vehicle owners. The 2012 Fisker Karma, priced at $102,000, is already available for sale in the U.S. More Canadian and international dealerships are planned in the coming months.
