Foothill Ranch-based Alacer Corp., the maker of vitamin drink mix Emergen-C, is launching a new product aimed at boosting immune systems as flu season hits.

Emergen-C Immune+ is a citrus-flavored vitamin drink now offered in a 2.5-ounce liquid shot. It is the first-ever immune-boosting vitamin shot drink, according to Alacer.

Emergen-C products typically are available in packets as a fizzy drink mix. However, the new formula is being offered as a fizzy drink mix and also in liquid-shot form.

The new line also contains a set of extra ingredients, which are designed to help support the body’s natural immune function. The product has the original Emergen-C's 1,000 milligrams of Vitamin C, plus a dose of beta glucans, zinc and a mix of other nutrients.

The Emergen-C Immune+ formula was developed in an effort to meet the needs of those with a high-stress lifestyle and are always on the go, according to Alacer President and CEO Ron Frugate.
