Former surgeon general set to speak at UC Irvine

Dr. Richard Carmona will discuss public health, politics on May 1.

Former Surgeon General Dr. Richard Carmona will speak about public health and politics May 1 at UC Irvine's Crystal Cove Auditorium.

Entitled “Prevention, Preparedness, Plagues and Politics: The Life of the Surgeon General,” the seminar will discuss the intersection of politics and public health in relation to disease prevention and health disparities. Carmona also plans to address the growing issues in health care as an economic burden.
