  • Fountain Valley-based Hyundai Motor Co. is launching a new incentive for customers as gas prices creep up during the summer.

The Assurance Gas Lock guarantees a year's worth of gas at $1.49 per gallon on most of the manufacturer's models leased or purchased between July1 and Aug. 31. The deal is also available with special rebate and financing options on individual cars.

The new program enables the company – which also boasts a 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty – to partner with buyers and address their more pressing needs, according to Joel Ewanick, vice president of Marketing for the company.

"We've extended Hyundai Assurance to cover gas prices just as peak summer demand traditionally strains budgets further, guaranteeing most new Hyundai owners a year's worth of low gas prices," continues Ewanick.

Gas prices in Orange County – and nationwide – have been on the rise, though they are still off from their peak in the summer of last year. The current cost for a regular gallon of gas is $2.97 in the region, according to AAA. Though the price has dropped since last week, when it was just over $3 dollars, it is still a good 20 cents or so higher than last month.
