Poseidon Resources has a proven track record of financing, designing and developing cost-efficient desalination plants throughout North America, and the one it wants to build in Huntington Beach could accommodate 8 percent of the county’s water needs. Kaiser Permanente understands the connection between good health and a healthy environment, which is why its Irvine Medical Center is among the greenest hospitals in the nation. And TowerJazz Semiconductor’s massive Newport Beach foundry could – potentially – eat up a whole lot of energy. But in less than two years, the company has reduced its annual consumption by a whopping 9 million kilowatt hours. A textile manufacturer, a desalination plant developer, a hospital and a semiconductor-maker: Together, they are an environmental powerhouse. And they stand among the next generation of businesses that believe preservation and conservation are just as important as revenue and profit.
