Environmental action through film

The L.E.A.F. program empowers teens to raise awareness through the creative process.

Volcom’s V.Co-Logical Series and Inside The Outdoors Foundation have launched a film contest for Orange County high school students called L.E.A.F., which is short for Leaders of Environmental Action Films. The program is part call to action, part public service.

“The L.E.A.F. contest is to get kids involved and take action on issues they are concerned with,” says Derek Sabori, director of Volcom’s V.Co-Logical Society. “Additionally, we want to give them a platform to be heard and challenge them to stand up against complacency.”

L.E.A.F. was created by a consortium of green advocates, companies and organizations who aim to heighten environmental awareness through film. Celebrity activists – including Ed Begley Jr., Tanna Frederick, David Chokachi and Kurt Soderling – are founding partners of the effort.
