‘First Rule’ By Robert Crais Putnam, 2010, $26.95 Tough
guy Joe Pike battles the Serbian mob after a family Pike is close to is
murdered in an L.A. home invasion. This novel lacks the humor of
earlier books in which Pike appeared, but it delivers plenty of
adrenaline.
‘Too Much Money’ By Dominick Dunne Crown, 2009, $29 The
last novel by Dominick Dunne, the late Vanity Fair writer and
high-society insider, is an entertaining parody of the rich he knew so
well. A murder mystery set in Manhattan, it is a funny cap to his
storied career.
