Newport Beach-based Human Options will host its annual fall fundraising luncheon on Tuesday, October 16 at the Balboa Bay Club. The event will present keynote speaker Courtney Macavinta, author, co-founder and president of The Respect Institute. Human Options board members and local philanthropists Kerri and Danny Sonenshine are co-chairs of the luncheon, which carries the theme, “Respect is always within reach; change your world inside and out.”

All proceeds from the event will help support Human Options’ mission to aid battered women and their families and to help break the cycle of domestic violence in the community.

As a child, Macavinta dealt with the standard teen issues of self-doubt, negative body image, bullying, as well as personal family struggles of substance abuse, incarceration, violence, and more. Macavinta now reaches out to millions of children, families, and communities through programs like The Respect Rally and through her award-winning, best-selling novel, Respect.

The Sonenshines own Santa Ana based Far West Restaurant Group LLC, which operates 19 Wingstop restaurants in Los Angeles and Orange County. The family has been involved in Human Options since its founding more than 31 years ago.
