Huntington Beach-based Quiksilver's revenue sinks 11 percent
Net revenue in Americas drops 13 percent during first quarter.

Huntington Beach-based Quiksilver is reporting its first-quarter fiscal 2009 results, and the numbers show the lack of consumer spending in recent months.
For the quarter that ended Jan. 31, the action-sports apparel company's consolidated net revenue decreased 11 percent to 443.3 million, compared with $496.6 million at the same time last year.
Net revenue in the Americas hit $203.4 million, which is a drop of 13 percent. European net revenues declined 9 percent during the first quarter to $181.7 million from $200.3 million in the first quarter of 2008. Asia/Pacific numbers also decreased 5 percent to $57.6 million.
