![]() The annual event’s co-chairs were IPSF Legacy Partners Janet Rome and Mary Brown, both of whom have provided significant financial support to Irvine students. The event was hosted at Kia Motors North America headquarters in Irvine and lead sponsor was Great Park Neighborhoods. “Spirit of Excellence” united educators, parents, alumni and community officials in celebration of Irvine schools, with all the glamour of the Academy Awards; attendees were met by a red carpet, dined on a formal dinner and enjoyed a reception, bid on auctions and were entertained by performances by current students of Irvine schools and two Broadway stars IPSF CEO Neda Zaengle says, “We are sincerely grateful for the support of the sponsors and gala attendees who contributed to this amazing community event. This one night underscores the special sense of community that is always present in Irvine and how we work together to make it an exceptional place to live, work and raise a family.” The IPSF Spirit of Excellence award winners this year were honored for their accomplishments in the arts, science, music, and athletics. The 2011 recipients include, Oren Jacob, Chief Technical Officer at Pixar Films, Allen Adham, co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment, Eric Anderson, actor and musician, and Jason Lezak, Olympic gold medalist swimmer. The City of Irvine was also recognized with a Spirit of Excellence Visionary Award for its ongoing dedication to improving education. Mayor Sukhee Kang adds, “The success of the Irvine Unified School District is unparalleled.
