Laguna Hills-based Iconosys has introduced a new product aimed at preventing the problem of texting while driving.

The SMS Replier-Lite with free DriveReply monitors the speed of a vehicle. Iconosys is the first to offer a platform such as this for free, according to Wayne Irving II, co-inventor of the SMS Replier application and CEO of Iconosys, a developer of mobile and stationary telecommunications products.

"We're positioning ourselves to be at the forefront (of this industry), while also offering something for free," he said. "We're dedicated to the cause more than making a fortune off the cause."

When enabled, the product's GPS integration will activate automatic responses to inbound calls and text messages if the car is traveling at a speed greater than 15 miles per hour.

Default messages include "I'm driving – I'll call or text you when I arrive at my destination."

"Our mission is to save lives by providing a much-needed solution to the texting-while-driving epidemic," said Irving.

The SMS Replier-Lite can be joined with other products available to Smartphone users such as real-time traffic data, mapping and GPS systems. It is available on the Google Android platform. The company plans to offer additional Smartphone applications in the future.

The platform comes with 25 preset messages that can be programmed for a variety of situations, plus three custom messages.

In addition, the firm has also released its SMS Replier Pro, which retails for $9.95 and includes a block and no-reply list, unlimited personalization and built-in DriveReply.
