![]() The 2010 New Home Collection is a series of 25 floor plans from six different builders that will be located in eight neighborhoods throughout Woodbury and Woodbury East in the Villages of Irvine. The homes will start in the low $300,000s. The move will ease some of the "pent-up demand" for homes in Irvine, according to Irvine Co. Community Development President Daniel Young. “Historically, buying a home in Irvine has been a tremendous long-term investment, and it remains a very desirable community for potential homebuyers," says Young. But the new homes are expected to relieve that need by appealing to a wide range of buyers; they will also be eligible for FHA financing. The project could even help boost the local real estate industry, which has suffered under the economic decline. In addition, the new home collection will address the changing needs of homebuyers. The company conducted two years of consumer research to find out what buyers are looking for when purchasing a home, according to the real estate developer. Among the findings: Consumers seek more livability and better functionality in their floor plans. They also want to have greater interaction within different rooms in the home and the outside area. The floor plans will offer a number of those features, according to the Irvine Co. Young even goes so far as to say that the floor plans "reflect consumers' 'wish lists' in home design and function." Here's a look at some of the new plans: The Great Room: This space is designed to be the focus of the home, where family members can meet in a single large area. It combines the traditional family and dining rooms into one unit that opens into the kitchen.
