The courtyard between Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale's revamp will begin this summer and continue until next summer. The entry to the space will feature a hand-carved granite fountain, which got its inspiration from the Fountain of the Four Rivers in the Piazza Navona in Rome. Another aspect will be a classical pavilion designed and built in Italy. And Fashion Island's paseos – which are lined with high-end shops, boutiques and eateries – will offer new handset pavers, Italian light fixtures, pots and plantings.
“Every physical improvement we’re planning throughout Fashion Island, from the water wall to the styles and colors of new tables and chairs, will play an important part in adding richness and texture to the center’s ambience and unique sense of place,” says Rob Elliott, senior vice president of Urban Planning and Design for the Irvine Co.
Other stores opening this summer and fall include Orange County's first Michael Stars and True Religion, and Dean & DeLuca expects to come to the center in the beginning of next year. Nordstrom is set to open next spring, joining Bloomingdale's, Macy's and the region's only Neiman Marcus at the center. This 140,000-square-foot Nordstrom location will be the sixth in O.C. The parking structure located adjacent to the department store will also expand by more than 700 spaces to better accommodate customers. Nordstrom Court will offer a new color scheme set against a hand-carved granite fountain; Italian light fixtures; hanging flower baskets; and handset pavers.
The courtyard adjacent to Macy's will get its turn starting in spring 2010. Upgrades include an expanded offering of shops, a new fountain, landscaping and soft seating.
Fashion Island's renovation projected is expected to be completed in mid-2011. << PREVIOUS PAGE
