Irvine Sensors reports operating results, announces new product

First- and third-quarter numbers are down; new high-speed hardware available

By Larry UrishPublished: August 06, 2009

Irvine Sensors Corporation – which produces and distributes miniaturized infrared and electro-optical cameras, image processors and stacked chip assemblies, as well as systems incorporating these products – has announced its third-quarter operating results. Despite earning $8.6 million in the sale of its patents last March, the Costa Mesa-based company’s total revenues were down in both the 13-week and 39-week periods, measured against the comparable periods in 2008.

Irvine Sensors’ total revenue for the 13 weeks that ended last June 28 was $2,774,500, compared to $4,679,900 in the 13 weeks that ended on June 29, 2008. And total revenue in the fiscal 2009 39-week period was $8,359,200, down from $13,672,500 in the first three quarters of fiscal 2008.

In related news, the company today announced that its EAGLE-10 "blade" product has been qualified at its design speed of 10 gigabits per second. Blades integrate servers, storage, networking and management functions into one IT chassis. The EAGLE-10 uses Irvine Sensors’ chip-stacking technology to enable very high speed processing, which is essential to network cyber-security applications. While developed for specific government requirements, the basic EAGLE-10 blade is available for other potential users.
