More than 100 local business and community leaders are expected to descend upon today's Irvine/Newport Beach Census Bureau office grand opening.

The newest office, located at 18 Goodyear, is the fourth temporary spot to open in Orange County as officials gear up for the 2010 Census. Other locations in Santa Ana, Placentia/Fullerton and Westminster/Huntington Beach also recently held grand opening events.

Today's event will feature, among other activities, presentations from Bill Campbell, Orange County Third District supervisor, and Irvine Mayor Sukhee Kang, who has been instrumental in the local preparations for the census, according to Nadia Babayi, the team leader for the South Orange County region.

She says Kang helped create Irvine's Complete Count Committee, which works to increase awareness about the census and encourage residents to respond.
