Finding a doctor just got easier, thanks to Irvine-based PatientFYI. The Web site – patientfyi.com – provides searchable information on doctors, service-specific patient referrals and practice profiles.

So far, more than 150,000 dentists are affiliated with the site, and more than 50,000 of them have detailed profiles about their offices, specialty and practice. The company expects rapid expansion into many other medical specialties, as well. And on March 1, visitors to WebMD will also have access to PatientFYI's search capabilities.

The site is intended to help patients make informed decisions when looking for doctors while allowing doctors to present their strengths, according to Jason Szczuka, president of PatientFYI.

“While others are beginning to scratch the surface of using the Internet to provide information, their approaches have been incomprehensive and one-sided – which too often pits doctors and patients against each other,” Szczuka says. “PatientFYI's collaborative approach empowers both patients and doctors to easily engage each other with the actionable information that is most important to each of them.”

PatientFYI allows patients to search for doctors using various criteria, including advanced technologies utilized, doctor capabilities, payment options and referrals from other patients that received the same service.

PatientFYI also offers a referral tool that enables patients to submit a referral in paper format while giving participating doctors the ability to post constructive responses alongside any referral they receive.

PatientFYI is a free service; to provide referrals, request a quote or schedule an appointment, registration is required.
