Irvine-based Kofax, which creates programs to automate document-driven business processes, is providing the U.S. Bureau of the Census with its Intelligent Capture & Exchange software. The platform will digitally process more than 17 million pages of employment applications and related information per year. The contract is worth more than $300,000.

The bureau will implement Kofax Capture, which digitizes data from scanned paper or imported electronic documents, and the Kofax Transformation Module, a product that automates the classification, sorting and separation of paper and electronic documents, and then verifies the information.

The software is expected to help the organization reduce time-consuming tasks and process data more efficiently and accurately.

“There is increasing demand for government agencies and organizations to transition from traditional paper-based systems to automated document processes that are efficient, reliable and highly secure, particularly for sensitive data,” says Kofax's Chief Marketing Officer Andrew Pery. “Our solutions are easy to deploy and use, and can manage and process highly challenging volumes and complex documents.”
