Island Hotel's revamp, continued ...

Island Hotel boasts a tropical feel throughout its interior and in its exotic landscaping, filled with plants such as birds of paradise.

The most recent phase of the revamp encompasses more than 20,000 feet of meeting space, including a 6,000-square-foot ballroom, five conference rooms and five other meeting suites. Among the upgrades: tropical interior plantings, walls painted in a soft gold, carpet in shades of tan and green, and finishings upholstered in tan leather and chenille, as well as newly installed skylights.

The refurbished foyer and lobby areas boast a bright, sunny feel, with contemporary paintings lining the walls, and oversized plants, polished oak, and granite and marble details filling the spaces. Custom Murano glass light fixtures imported from Italy complete the look. Other features include carpeting with a green and camel geometric pattern, and chairs, sectionals and chaises grouped together to promote conversation among hotel guests.

Guestrooms and suites offer bright, airy interiors, garden or ocean views, new carpeting and draperies, wood furnishings, and polished marble and granite accents, as well as Stearns & Foster beds. Plein air works also add to the light feel of the rooms. The bathrooms, outfitted in marble, also boast textured wall coverings and oversize showerheads.

The final area the Island Hotel reworked is the Palm Terrace Restaurant & Lounge. The eatery accentuates the resort's tropical urban oasis theme with colors such as greens, celadons and bronzes found throughout. Among the other features: plush, contemporary furnishings upholstered in greens and warm gold shades, and hand-hammered bronze hardware and lamp bases.
