JWA sees a pop in activity
Passenger traffic and commercial flights both jumped in December over same month in ’08.

John Wayne Airport saw more travelers and serviced more air traffic in December than in the same month in 2008.
The airport served 734,285 passengers last month, up 6.5 percent from December 2008’s total of 689,589. Correspondingly, commercial carrier operations increased by 8.7 percent. However, commuter carrier (or air taxi) operations fell 57.9 percent.
The airport serviced 17,427 take-offs and landings, an increase of 7.4 percent over last year. And general aviation activity, which accounted for 57 percent of the total aircraft operations last month, jumped by 13.5 percent over the previous year.
