James Beard Foundation names Studio’s Craig Strong among semi-finalists
The restaurant's top culinary artist is under consideration for the Best Chef Pacific award.

Executive Chef Craig Strong of Studio Restaurant at the Montage Laguna Beach landed as a semi-finalist in the Best Chef Pacific category for this year’s James Beard Foundation Restaurant and Chef Awards.
“I am thrilled to be included as a semifinalist for The James Beard Foundation awards,” Strong says. “I am lucky that I get to do what I love on a daily basis, and working at Studio has been an extraordinary experience for me.”
Strong brought his style of modern French cuisine with California influences to the Montage in June.
"We are happy to have Craig Strong as a part of our culinary team,” says James Bermingham, vice president of Montage Hotels & Resorts and the managing director Montage Laguna Beach. “The responses from our guests have been remarkable. Not only do they enjoy his culinary talents but his humble, gracious and engaging personality.”
The foundation will announce the list of finalists on March 22, and the winners will be announced on May 3.
