O.C. property-development firms honored with Gold Nugget Awards
The industry accolades recognize excellence in building design and construction.

McLarand Vasquez Emsiek and PartnersIrvine-based McLarand Vasquez Emsiek and Partners (MVE) and Santa Ana-based KTGY Group both received Gold Nugget Awards, one of the most respected honors in the property-development business sector, last month at the 47th annual Pacific Coast Builders Conference. The companies were recognized for their excellence and novelty in design and construction.
MVE was acknowledged with five Gold Nugget Awards for three separate multi-tenant residential ventures, located in San Diego, Irvine and Oakland. The company’s 35-year portfolio is comprised of commercial, hospitality, institutional and government clients.
“The Gold Nuggets are the result of a tremendous effort on the part of their judges,” said Rick Emsiek, MVE president. “At MVE, we have developed a deep bench in the design of mixed-use, residential and transit-oriented projects, and it is an honor to be acknowledged by such a prestigious awards program.”
KTGY was recognized for its design work on three new Habitat for Humanity homes recently completed in Yorba Linda. KTGY built the homes with a sustainable and simple design that are compatible with working families. The firm also received the Building Industry Community Spirit Award’s “Grant Award” for its philanthropic achievements.
“Congratulations to KTGY Group for winning a 2010 Gold Nugget for their design work on our three new homes in Yorba Linda,” said Mark Korando, senior vice president, Habitat for Humanity of Orange County. “With these home designs, KTGY has proved that simple, decent, affordable homes can also be an attractive addition to any neighborhood.”
