Organization also leads in hypertension control.

Kaiser Permanente Orange County led in breast cancer screening rates and in hypertension control within the organization during 2008. The local health care agency also ranked No. 2 in both cervical cancer screenings and diabetes control.

More than 42,500 screening mammograms were conducted during the year by Kaiser Permanente Orange County. Staff worked to set appointments during other routine member visits, ranging from visits to opticians to primary care physicians.

"We are very excited about these results,” says Dr. Edward Ellison, area medical director for Kaiser Permanente Orange County. “Having screening rates that are among the very best in the nation means we are saving more of our member's lives through prevention, early diagnosis and treatment."
