Kaiser Permanente Orange County's Community Benefits Program has granted more than $500,000 to 35 local nonprofits and community health clinics in 2009.

The program, which recognizes agencies that offer free or low-cost services to underserved and uninsured families or individuals in the county, celebrated the work of these institutions last week during its Celebration of Healthy Partnerships reception.

“It’s an honor to serve the community, which is a commitment we take very seriously,” says Judy White, medical group CEO for Kaiser Permanente Orange County. “Through our community benefit grant program, we are truly working to create not only healthy partnerships, but a stronger Orange County.”

Among the 35 honorees: the Irvine Public Schools Foundation, which fights childhood obesity, and the Family Support Network, an agency that works to increase access to health care.
