"The latest ... data shows that car shoppers are hungry for deals this Friday and would seriously consider buying a new vehicle then if the price was right," says James Bell, executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com. "However, there is a perception gap about what special deals actually are available to new-car shoppers on Black Friday."
Those surveyed revealed that they are not particularly aware of Black Friday-specific discounts being offered by auto manufacturers and dealerships this year. Sixty-seven percent said they were not aware of any such discounts, but would consider buying a new car if deals were made available. Only 4 percent of respondents said they were aware of incentives and planned to take advantage of them.
Bell says that this lack understanding or awareness should "motivate" automakers to promote discounts and draw in more customers.
