Kia Motors America was recently honored with The Outstanding Building of the Year award for its corporate headquarters and Kia Design Center America in Irvine. The honor was presented by the Orange County chapter of the Building Owners and Managers Association in the corporate facility category.

The TOBY award is known for its comprehensive program as the only national competition that awards excellence in building management. BOMA evaluates a facility based on its amenities package, tenant-relations program, community involvement, emergency evacuation procedures and overall services.

“This is an honor that not only embodies KMA’s commitment to the U.S. market through leading vehicle and architectural design but also its partnership and involvement with the local community in Irvine and greater Orange County,” says John Yoon, vice president of human resources/administration and general counsel for Kia Motors America.

The 21.7-acre corporate campus was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP. Kia's headquarters and design center buildings were designed to symbolize the bridging of Eastern and Western cultures, according to Yoon.
