“This museum was conceived as a little city for little children,” said Pamela Shambra, the museum’s president. “You’ll see children instinctively take food from the farm to the store and then to the café where they cook it up.”
Orange County Supervisor Bill Campbell lauded the partnering of public and private sector funding in the development of the museum. The county’s Children and Families Commission, for example, provided a $3.5 million grant. And business leaders such as Bill Lyon from William Lyon Homes and Anne Marie Moiso of the Rancho Mission Viejo Co., plus a long list of corporate donors, played key roles in the private funding efforts.
“This museum opens doors to a whole new world of hope and opportunity,” said Irvine Mayor Sukhee Kang. “It will help stretch children’s imagination.” << PREVIOUS PAGE
