Susan G. Komen for the Cure will launch its 2011 Breast Health Education Series on April 2, with an event themed “Be Aware and Take Charge of Your Breast Health.”

The half-day seminar – which will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Westminster Rose Center – will showcase new cancer research and honor this year’s recipients of the Komen Inspirational Survivor Awards.

“The launch of the Breast Health Education Series provides a unique opportunity for survivors, supporters and the medical community to learn about progress in the fight against breast cancer directly from those at the forefront of the effort,” said Lisa Wolter, executive director of the Komen Orange County affiliate. “We aim to not only educate, but also motivate the public as we work toward finding a cure.”

Among the lineup of speakers: Dan Mercola, professor of pathology at University of California, Irvine, and Diana Rowden, vice president for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
