Irvine-based LPA Inc., an architecture, planning, interior design and engineering company, will unveil the latest feather in its prestigious cap when NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) debuts its new Flight Projects Center Monday, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m. in Pasadena. The facility has already earned LEED gold status and is the greenest completed building in the NASA family.

JPL is a federally funded research and development facility managed by the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The ribbon cutting was originally scheduled for last month but was postponed when the Station Fire threatened the lab's northern edge.

Since 2000, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has mandated all new federal construction and major modernization projects to attain, at minimum, a LEED certified rating while striving for LEED Silver. The expertise at of the architects and designers at LPA – the company boasts that 78 percent of its professionals are LEED accredited – were able to surpass the mandate to achieve gold certification on a silver budget.
