Filmmaker Carrie Gallison has an extensive resume as a film, video and corporate events producer and will now have the opportunity to realize her aspirations as a documentary filmmaker when she premieres her first film on March 26. Click here to see trailer.

“Orange County Treasures: The People’s Farm,” about the oldest working farm in Orange County, will be screened on March 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the San Juan Capistrano Community Center at 25925 Camino del Avion, San Juan Capistrano. It is free to the public.

Gallison, co-founder of Tempo Events, has extensive film credits that range from “Princess Diaries 2” to “Traffic” and corporate clients that include Disney Studios and Microsoft. Her aspirations to get behind the camera led her to Saddleback College’s first documentary production class in 2007.

Part of the class curriculum was that completed projects would air on Cox Channel 39. Gallison wanted to do focus her project on local issues, but struggled to find just the right story.

A chance visit to South Coast Farms, an organic farm stand in San Juan Capistrano, with her son Jack was where inspiration struck.

The concept of this farm, which originated in the 1800s, and its ability to survive the crush of development that has surrounded for more than a century, was remarkable. She began asking questions about the owners and quickly realized this was the Orange County story she wanted to tell.
