Eat Chow

By Carol StarcevicPublished: March 01, 2010

Part of Eat Chow’s charm is that you can access this eatery from its official address – by entering a clothing store, The Closet, with which it shares space. Sidewalk seating under colorful red umbrellas, cheerful orange pillows tossed on top of dark-wood seating inside, and an eclectic menu, dubbed “New American,” offer a warm welcome.

I planned to order a salad, but I instead asked Brian McReynolds, owner and chef, what the most popular items were. I’m glad I took his advice.

First up: a serving of grilled Jumbo Prawns accompanied by a side of baby arrugula. The Cajun-inspired seasoning on the prawns added a wonderful zing.

Next: a plate of Eat Chow’s Fried Green Tomatoes, breaded with corn meal and topped with pico de gallo, which made for a perfect complement to the prawns.
